Ship a car to another state, door to door
No special circumstances. You need a vehicle to end up in a different state, safely, on a timeline you can plan around.
Clutch Auto Transport ships vehicles between any two points in the 48 continental states, door to door, on open or enclosed carriers. Cost is driven primarily by distance, vehicle size, transport type, route density, and season. Most interstate shipments are quoted online in about a minute without speaking to anyone.
What determines your price
Auto transport pricing is not arbitrary, but it is not a simple per-mile table either. Five things drive almost all of it.
Distance. The largest single factor, though the price per mile drops as distance rises. A 2,000 mile move does not cost four times a 500 mile move.
Vehicle size and weight. A carrier has finite deck space and a legal weight limit. A large SUV or a full-size truck takes the space of a sedan and a half, and prices accordingly.
Open or enclosed. Enclosed transport costs meaningfully more. It uses smaller trailers, carries fewer vehicles, and there are fewer of them.
Route density. Major metro to major metro is the cheapest thing in this industry, because carriers run those lanes constantly. Rural origins and destinations cost more because the truck has to detour and may run empty afterward.
Season and timing. Snowbird season moves prices on the Sun Belt lanes. Summer moves prices everywhere. Flexible dates cost less than a fixed window.

Frequently asked
How long does interstate shipping take?
It depends primarily on distance. See How Long Does Auto Transport Take for the full breakdown by mileage band. Transit is quoted as a window rather than an appointment, because a carrier is running a route with multiple stops, not a dedicated trip for your vehicle.
Does door to door mean my actual driveway?
As close as legally and safely possible. A full-size hauler is around 75 feet long, so narrow streets, low branches, tight turns, and HOA rules sometimes mean meeting nearby at a shopping center or similar open area. The driver coordinates that with you directly.
Can I ship to or from Alaska or Hawaii?
Those involve ocean carriers in addition to over-the-road transport and are handled case by case rather than through the standard quote form. Call us for those.
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Every carrier in the Clutch network must carry active cargo insurance, verified before assignment.
