Inbound and outbound transport for auto auctions

Vehicles that do not move cost money twice: once in storage, and again in the sale you could not run because the unit was not on the lot.

Clutch Auto Transport provides inbound and outbound vehicle transport for physical and online auto auctions across the 48 continental states, including consignment pickups, post-sale delivery to buyers, and clearing units off the lot before storage accrues. Auction accounts get lane pricing, portal-based ordering, and coordination with gate release and auction hours.

The problem

Where auction transport breaks

Volume is not the hard part. Predictability is.

Storage clocks that never stop

Every day a sold unit sits on your lot is a day it is costing somebody money and generating a phone call.

Lanes nobody wants to bid

The easy runs get covered instantly. The rural, low-density, and back-haul lanes sit on the board for a week.

Gate release and hours

A driver who arrives without the right release, or after the gate closes, is a wasted dispatch and a reschedule.

Volume that arrives in waves

Sale-day volume is not spread evenly across the week, and capacity has to be planned around that, not reacted to.

How we help

How Clutch covers auction volume

Auction work rewards carriers who already run the lane and punishes anyone treating each unit as a one-off.

  • The major networks, covered. Manheim and Adesa are the two highest-volume auction networks in the country and the lanes in and out of them are the ones we run most.
  • Lane-based capacity. We build around your recurring routes rather than re-bidding every unit.
  • Release coordination. Buyer number, release documentation, and gate hours captured at booking, not discovered at the gate.
  • Sale-day planning. Tell us the sale calendar and we plan capacity against it in advance.
  • Both directions. Consignment inbound and buyer delivery outbound, on one account and one invoice trail.
  • Order history at volume. Every unit searchable, which matters when reconciling a hundred moves rather than one.
Process

Working a sale

Share the calendar

Sale dates and expected volume, so capacity is planned rather than scrambled.

Orders in bulk

Enter units through the portal, including repeat lanes you run every sale.

Release handled up front

Buyer numbers, release paperwork, and gate hours captured before dispatch.

Clear the lot

Units move on schedule, and status is visible without calling dispatch.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can you handle post-sale delivery directly to the buyer?

Yes. Outbound delivery to the winning buyer, dealer or retail, is standard auction work and runs on the same account as your inbound consignment moves.

How do you handle units that do not run?

Non-running units need a winch-equipped carrier and price higher. Auction inventory has a high share of these, so flag run status when the unit is entered rather than at the gate.

What are your rates on hard-to-cover rural lanes?

Priced by lane rather than by a flat national rate, because a lane with no back-haul genuinely costs more to cover. We would rather quote it accurately than quote it low and leave the unit sitting.

Do you provide condition reports on auction units?

Yes, at pickup and delivery. On wholesale units this documentation is what settles a dispute, and it is retained against the order.
